Brief introduction of Feng Guoyu
Personal calligraphy exhibition was held in China Art Museum on 1989 and in the Asian Games on 1990, and was also held in Singapore, Thailand and South Korea on invitation. One of the top ten contemporary calligraphers in China, on April 4th, 2002, his calligraphy works traveled in space for seven days on Shenzhou II. In recent years, he has been invited to hold solo book exhibitions in Singapore, Thailand and South Korea. Mr. Feng Lao's works have also been designated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as gifts given by state leaders to foreign dignitaries. His works have been selected in calligraphy exhibitions at home and abroad for many times and won the first prize five times; More than 1000 works have been broadcast to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and other 17 countries and regions. His works are collected by Hamburg Art Museum, Munich Art Museum and Milan Art Museum in Italy. Mr. Shen Peng, the former chairman of China Calligraphers Association, summed up Feng Lao's calligraphy subtly: "The method has the meaning of Wei and Jin Dynasties, and God seeks mountains and rivers, connecting the past with the future, creating a new chapter, with extraordinary tolerance." Mr. Feng Lao not only experienced calligraphy and devoted himself to learning, but also published two books, Theoretical Research and Calligraphy Works. He has been engaged in calligraphy teaching for a long time, and has been invited to teach calligraphy in Peking University and Singaporean universities for many times. It can be said that peaches and plums are all over the world. Among his many students, calligraphy artist Ye, great calligrapher Dong Haijun and Bai calligrapher Zhou Xuansong have become famous calligraphers in China. The essence of Feng Lao's calligraphy is "to enter the line with a monument, to enter the grass, to be simple and broad-minded, to be ups and downs, to be dense and to gather and disperse freely"; Mr. Shen Peng, the former chairman of China Calligraphers Association, brilliantly summarized Feng Lao's calligraphy style. In 2006, he was awarded the literary and artistic achievement award by the Propaganda Department, Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Department of Culture of Yunnan Provincial Committee. In 2009, it was awarded the title of "60 Stars" in Yunnan Province. His works and biographies have been compiled into China Dictionary of Modern Calligraphy Names, Famous Works of Contemporary Calligraphy in China, Notes of Members of China Calligraphers Association, Who's Who of Contemporary Art in China, Mirror of Modern Art in China and Japan, Volume of Contemporary Chinese Characters and Chinese Volume of World Cultural Celebrities, etc.
