The Japanese Department aims to cultivate Japanese professionals who have a solid Japanese application ability, a certain understanding of Japanese society and culture, and a certain knowledge of economy and trade, and can engage in foreign trade, translation, teaching, management and cultural exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education and tourism services. Therefore, when establishing Japanese department, according to the teaching syllabus of Japanese major in colleges and universities, and drawing lessons from the experience of other famous universities, the professional teaching plan is formulated.

In the course setting, we should pay attention to the structure of professional courses and take into account the needs of social development. Every autumn when the new semester begins, the Japanese Department will hold academic guidance lectures for students to cultivate their professional awareness as soon as possible, clarify the internal relationship between professional courses and skills, and organically combine basic knowledge, professional knowledge, target skills and graduation thesis. In terms of specialty and professional frontier, we should set up three directions closely related to social needs: language, literature and history and translation, so as to cultivate and improve students' comprehensive quality and innovative spirit. At the same time, the course is constantly improved and adjusted according to the actual situation, so that the teaching quality is steadily improved. In addition, the Japanese Department makes full use of the disciplinary advantages of Donghua University, and implements various modes such as major and minor, foreign language plus professional direction, and strives to train students to become compound talents with solid foreign language skills, reasonable knowledge structure and comprehensive quality.

The Japanese Department has advanced teaching equipment, multimedia classrooms, nine language laboratories and affiliated reference rooms, and regularly buys Japanese books and multimedia materials. In addition, the "Mr. Noyuan Juxiong Library" presented by Professor Noyuan Juxiong, former director of the National Institute of Languages in Japan, has formed a professional library of a certain scale and is still being enriched.

The Japanese Department has always adhered to teaching as the center, constantly promoted teaching reform, achieved good teaching results in improving teaching level, and achieved excellent results in activities such as "* * * Cup Japanese Speech Contest". In June, 2005, students of Grade 03 in Japanese Department took the NSS Band 4 exam, and students of Grade 02 in Japanese Department took the NSS Band 8 exam in February, 2005. These two exams were the first time for Donghua University to take the national unified exam for Japanese majors. Among them, the passing rate of the "Band 4" test for Japanese majors is 93.48%, and the passing rate of the "Band 8" test for Japanese majors is 94.44%.

At the same time, the Japanese Department attaches great importance to academic exchange activities and regularly invites famous Japanese professors at home and abroad to our school to hold Japanese lectures and seminars. Professional teachers attach great importance to teaching methods and academic exchanges, and actively devote themselves to the research of Japanese teaching methods with characteristics and the production of teaching materials. In terms of teacher-student exchanges, in the pragmatic spirit of promoting Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges and enhancing Sino-Japanese friendship, outstanding teachers and students are sent to Japan for further study, and they actively participate in national, provincial and municipal speech contests and "Model United Nations" activities attended by world-renowned college students. The school holds international exchange activities such as "Japanese Department Exchange Festival", "Japanese Square" and "Japanese drama dubbing contest" to improve students' language use ability and provide students with various platforms to show their talents.
