There are 7 tutors for the Master of English Language and Literature, including 5 professors, 9 associate professors and 1 1 doctoral tutors. They are the teaching backbone of the college and have a high academic status among their peers, and their scientific research achievements have a certain influence in the academic circles. The master's degree program presided over 3 national social science fund projects, 6 provincial scientific research projects and won 5 provincial and municipal scientific research awards. He has published more than 10 kinds of academic monographs, translations and textbooks, and more than 100 kinds of academic tables and translations, among which more than 40 kinds have been published in national authoritative journals and core journals such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research, China Translation, Foreign Languages, Modern Foreign Languages, Foreign Literature Review and Foreign Literature Research.

(1) Research direction of translation theory and practice
In recent years, the research direction has published academic papers 10 in national authoritative foreign language journals and core journals, and presided over the translation research project 1 funded by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education (2002-2005). Academic backbones and echelon members have their own research priorities. Translation studies involve cross-cultural communication, discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics and culturology, and are also studied from different aspects such as cultural constraints, discourse (thinking) habits, metaphors and stylistic norms.
Pay attention to the frontier of contemporary translation studies and cultivate your own research characteristics: 1) It not only highlights the contrast of micro-language structure, closely links with practice to explore the laws and methods of translation, but also emphasizes the interdisciplinary research of translation theory. With the help of theories and knowledge of discourse analysis, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics and other disciplines, the diversified research of translation studies can be carried out. In the setting and teaching of translation courses, the tradition of skill introduction and skill training has been broken, which fully embodies the interdisciplinary characteristics of translation. 2) emphasizing the inheritance of China's translation tradition, but not confined to the tradition; Pay attention to absorbing the new methods of western translation studies, grasp the new trends of translation studies, broaden your horizons, learn from each other's strengths, strive to innovate, and gradually form different research styles; 3) Consciously bring translation studies into the context of cultural studies in the era of globalization, emphasize the cultural connotation of language and the interaction between language and culture from the perspective of cross-cultural communication, study the principles, functions, methods and teaching of translation, and integrate culture into translation research and teaching.
(2) The direction of English teaching theory and practice.
The research direction of this paper is the English education direction in Curriculum and Teaching Theory, which has six postgraduate enrollment histories. There is an academic team consisting of 2 professors, 12 associate professors and 5 lecturers. The basic characteristics of this direction are: (1) interdisciplinary and cutting-edge, and the curriculum structure combining applied linguistics with English teaching theory covers the dual characteristics of language and education, which breaks through the traditional curriculum orientation of experiential teacher training, pays attention to English teachers' knowledge structure, professional quality and research ability of teaching behavior, and expresses the modern discipline concept aiming at teacher education and teacher development. Professional knowledge courses such as teachers' language awareness, classroom interaction, text types, second language acquisition and teaching text linguistics emphasize English teachers' professional theoretical knowledge and teaching reflection ability, while professional skills courses such as teaching grammar, teacher discourse analysis, syllabus design and curriculum preparation, subject teaching knowledge, teaching evaluation and teacher behavior research emphasize English teachers' teaching design ability and professional practice ability. Some of these courses are the first time in China, and they represent new ideas of English education. (2) The research direction shows a broader academic vision and the research and exploration of English education at different levels. Members have long-term academic background in English teaching research, covering applied linguistics, second language acquisition, learning strategies, autonomous learning theory, English teaching theory and English teaching evaluation. The research object and content span all levels of English teaching from primary school to middle school to university, covering a wide range, which better reflects the continuity and integrity of English education.
(3) Research direction of European and American literature:
Most of the tutors in this research direction have doctoral degrees, consisting of 3 professors, 4 associate professors and 1 lecturer. Academic interests and achievements are mainly concentrated in modern and contemporary British and American literature, comparative poetics between China and the West, cultural studies, European and American dramas and poems. Their basic characteristics are as follows: 1, and their academic horizons are broad. This study focuses on British and American literature, at the same time, it breaks through the boundary of dividing literary research by language, integrates western literature into one, and conducts interdisciplinary comparative research. 2. The research direction is not limited to British and American poetry, novels and dramas, but also refers to the ideological value system of western culture and western society, and looks at western literature and western culture from multiple dimensions to meet the needs of cultivating qualified talents with comprehensive knowledge and high quality. 3. The research direction has a strong multidisciplinary comparison. Although the research direction takes British and American poetry, novels and European and American dramas as the research scope, it makes a comparative study of literature, culture and art from different regions, so that students can more clearly understand the similarities of western literature and the differences and complementarities of national literature. This direction has profound academic accumulation and obvious humanistic characteristics.
