How to understand "the way of a university is to be well-known, close to the people and stop at perfection"
The purpose of the university is to carry forward the aboveboard moral character, make people abandon the old and establish the new, and make people reach the most perfect state. The way of university is such a road: starting from Mingde Yu, becoming a new person, and finally being complete. "Mingde" is a clear moral character, a natural moral character. "Ming Ming De" means knowing clearly what human nature is and how to be a man. "Xinmin" includes two meanings: rehabilitation and Xinmin. Self-improvement means renewing morality, constantly changing yourself, perfecting yourself, and being a person with innovative spirit and ability; Xinmin is to turn the people into customs, make a living for the people, and let the people set up new ideas and live a new life. "Supreme goodness" is the highest goodness, and the highest goodness is no goodness. If there is no good, it is good for the sake of good. Without external forms of goodness, there is real goodness. This sentence comes from "University" and is the embodiment of Confucian educational thought.
