The predecessors of Nanchang University School, namely Jiangxi Medical College, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi University of Technology, can be traced back to Jiangxi Public Medical College founded by 192 1, National Chung Cheng University founded by 1940 and Jiangxi Institute of Technology founded by 1958 respectively.
1993 Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Government decided to merge Jiangxi University and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology to form Nanchang University; In 2005, Nanchang University merged with the former Jiangxi Medical College to form the new Nanchang University.
Cooperation and communication
As of April, 20021,the school has joined the China-Central and Eastern European University Federation, the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS International Alliance for Skills Development. It is one of the founding universities of the South Asia-Southeast Asia University Alliance and a member of the Eurasian-pacific alliance, Sino-Thai Higher Education Cooperation Alliance and the Yangtze River-Volga University Alliance.
It is the executive director of China Education Exchange Association, the demonstration base for studying in China of the Ministry of Education, the overseas study training base of the overseas study service center of the Ministry of Education, and the national HSK Chinese proficiency online test advanced test center. It is the only university in Jiangxi Province that is allowed to simplify the procedures for going abroad on business. The school has established exchanges and cooperation with 170 universities and research institutions in more than 40 countries (regions).
The school has established Sino-German Research Institute, China-Canada Joint Laboratory of Food Science and Technology (Nanchang), International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Food Safety, International Food Innovation Research Institute and International Material Innovation Research Institute, and jointly established the first Russian language center in Jiangxi Province with Russian universities. Cooperate with Queen Mary University in London, UK.
The school has set up four Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms in France, Spain and Indonesia, and a Chinese Language Research Center in Russia. In recent years, more than 5,000 students have gone abroad to exchange and study.
