North university of china, located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a key construction university for the basic capacity building project of universities in central and western China, the second batch of key construction universities for the education and training of outstanding engineers, China Aerospace Core University, one of the eight undergraduate colleges directly under the former Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and one of the seven undergraduate colleges directly under the former China Municipal People's Government and Ordnance Industry. It is a provincial university jointly established by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government and the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. North university of china is a national second-class secret unit, known as the "military leader" and "people's military industry first" in China. It is a three-star professional university in China selected by China Alumni Association.

North university of china is a teaching and research university with graduate school, State Key Laboratory, State Key Discipline, National University Science Park and postdoctoral research mobile station. North university of china has the qualification of recommending graduate students without examination. It is the first batch of universities in the State Council with the right to award bachelor's and master's degrees (198 1) and the seventh batch with the right to award doctoral degrees (1998). There are also associate professors (the third batch, 1993) and professors (the fourth batch, 2003).
