20021year1October 25th, the Ministry of Education recently announced that as of September 30th, 20021year, there were 30 12 institutions of higher learning in China, including 2,756 ordinary institutions of higher learning (undergraduate institutions 1.270, and 65,400 junior colleges). This list does not include institutions of higher learning and military academies in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

As can be seen from the list, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Henan rank among the top three universities, with Jiangsu 167, Guangdong 160, Henan 156, Shandong 153, Ningxia, Qinghai and Tibet as the least, and Tibet as only seven.
