Waseda University was founded as a Tokyo special school by Nobuka, a former Japanese prime minister (cabinet minister), a famous politician, thinker, revolutionary and reformist minister, at 188 1. 1882 1 01October 21day, Waseda University was established under the name of "Tokyo Institute". Prior to this, the part located in Waseda was Waseda School. The part located in Otsuka is called Otsuka School. On September 2, 1902, it was approved to be transformed into Waseda University.
