Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering was revised by the Ministry of Education in September, 20 12, and unified five majors, namely Optoelectronic Information Science and Technology, Optoelectronic Technology Science, Information Display and Optoelectronic Technology, Optoelectronic Information Engineering and Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, which belong to electronic information science. This major trains applied talents with modern scientific consciousness, solid theoretical foundation, wide knowledge and strong innovation ability, who can engage in scientific research in optical engineering, optical communication, image and information processing, product design and manufacturing, scientific and technological development and application, operation management and other related fields, and can meet the needs of the rapid development of contemporary information society.

A total of 20 universities offering optoelectronic information science and engineering majors participated in the 20 16 ranking of optoelectronic information science and engineering universities, among which Nankai University ranked first, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China ranked second and Huazhong University of Science and Technology ranked third.
