Henan Vocational College of Applied Technology is a public full-time general college, a provincial backbone vocational college, a provincial brand demonstration college, a provincial high-quality vocational college, a high-level vocational college and a high-level professional group construction unit in Henan Province, and a university directly under the Education Department of Henan Province.

The school was founded in 1956, formerly known as Henan Chemical Engineering School. The 20 10 school was transformed into a higher vocational school and renamed as Henan Vocational College of Chemical Technology. 20 15 School merged with the former Henan Medical College and was renamed Henan Vocational College of Applied Technology. By February, 2022, school students had won the national first prize 12, the second prize 22, the first prize 45 and the second prize 3 10 in the national and provincial vocational skills competitions. In the past three years, school students have won seven gold medals, seven silver medals 18, nine bronze medals 19, the third prize 1 in the national competition of China University Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and four second prizes in the provincial competition, and won the National Invention Cup in higher vocational colleges.
