Law degree system
There are three types of "ba" in jurisprudence. The first type: Jurisprudence BA, which is the most important three-year bachelor of law. The second type: Ba in Jurisprudence with advanced status, a two-year bachelor of law, mainly aimed at law undergraduates who already have undergraduate degrees. The study content and requirements are the same as those of the three-year system, but the study time is greatly reduced. The third type: BA in Law in European Law Studies, namely "2+ 1" degree, studied in Oxford University for two years, and studied in Oxford University's European partner institutions for one year in the third year. Oxford now has eight cooperative universities. There are two types of master of law, teaching master and research master. Master of teaching is more mainstream and important. Master of teaching can be divided into BCL (Bachelor of Civil Law) and MJur (Master of Law). BCL has a bachelor's degree in common law, and MJur has a bachelor's degree in civil law. There are two kinds of research-oriented masters, one is called MPhil Law (Master of Philosophy of Law), and the other is called Mst Law (Master of Legal Studies), in which MPhil Law is suitable for students who have studied BCL and MJur in Oxford University, and Mst Law is suitable for graduates abroad.
DPhil Law is the highest research stage of law in Oxford University. Doctor of Civil Law (DCL) is an honorary degree awarded to scholars and celebrities who have made contributions. After 30 years, law students who graduated from Oxford can also apply for this honorary degree according to their achievements and influence in their respective fields. In the first year, a doctoral student is not called a doctoral student before the qualification examination, but one of three identities: MPhil, Mst Law or PRS(propationer Research Student). According to the results of the first round of tests, decide whether to continue studying or get a master's degree to terminate the doctoral degree learning process.
This elaborate degree system design implements the concept of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude as much as possible, paying attention to the demand of older students with practical experience for shortening the academic system and the acquisition of common law by students from different legal systems. Moreover, from the master's stage, a set of phased training mechanism has been designed for students who are interested in legal research, from master of law to research master and then to doctor. At this stage, they are also allowed to quit because of the change of career choice after obtaining a certain degree.
Simplified examination system
The undergraduate program of law is three years. Undergraduate students mainly have two exams: the first one is the qualification exam, which is held at the end of the first academic year; The second time is the degree exam, which is arranged at the end of the last year. This is a very difficult comprehensive exam, and you can get a degree if you pass it. At the end of the first year, there are relatively few exam subjects, two or three, and the exam is not included in the final score, but it can be provided for employers to refer to when looking for a job. Many law firms start looking for suitable candidates two years in advance, and undergraduates can start submitting resumes to law firms after the first year. Undergraduates have no test pressure for about two years, and are free to delve into issues of interest. But in the third year, the pressure of the final comprehensive exam is very great. In their spare time, students often concentrate on learning all the more than ten subjects they have learned in the past three years. Students must master the knowledge completely and use it flexibly in order to pass. Undergraduate grades are divided into five grades, namely 1, 2. 1, 2.2, 3, passing and failing.
The examination system of master students is basically the same as that of undergraduate students, but the academic system is short, with only three grades: excellent, that is, higher than 70 points; Pass, that is, at 50-69 points; Fail, that is, less than 50 points If two of the four courses are excellent and the other two are above 60 points, you can get excellent comprehensive results; In other cases, the total score is passed; If one of the four courses fails unfortunately, students must make up for it with another excellent or high-scoring course, otherwise they will not be able to get a degree.
The examination for doctoral students is divided into three stages. In the first year, you need to pass the stage thesis defense and topic opening. There are five results in the first level: no modification is passed, major/minor modification is passed, and you need to re-open the topic defense. The topic opening is unsuccessful but the MPhil/Mst degree is awarded, which is a complete failure. Once the topic is passed, students will become official doctoral candidates (DPhil candidates). Usually, at the end of the year before graduation, doctoral students need to face a second test, called identity confirmation, to prove that they can finish their doctoral thesis writing in the following time. The third exam is the final defense of the doctoral thesis. Regarding the process of these three tests, doctoral students should consult with their respective tutors, fill in the basic information that students must fill in, and then give it to the tutor, who is responsible for inviting two examiners to participate. All cases involving degree awarding need at least one off-campus expert or practicing lawyer, and all other cases can be attended by teachers in the same field on campus.
Under such a system, the number of exams is less, and students can have time to explore suitable learning methods and freely study issues of interest; The examination form is mainly centralized examination, which can fully test students' mastery of knowledge and flexible application ability; In the doctoral stage, the tutor leads the examination and defense in the whole process, and fully strengthens the guidance duties of the tutor; There is an exit mechanism for exams. If the doctoral program is unsuccessful or you choose independently, you can get a research-oriented master's degree, and you pay full attention to the possible changes in your career choice.

Oxford Law School has seven postgraduate classes. They are bachelor's degree in civil law, master's degree in law, master's degree in law finance, master's degree in criminology and criminal justice, master's degree in law, postgraduate degree in intellectual property law and practice and master's degree in international human rights law.
Full-time single lawyer
BCL is a traditional project of Oxford University Law School, which lasted from16th century to now. Although there is a bachelor's degree in the name of the project, it is actually a master's degree project, which takes one year. Oxford's BCL program is aimed at law school students with common law backgrounds, including LLB and JD. The entry requirements of BCL are very strict, and Outstandingfirstlawdegrees is the minimum requirement. Only about 1 HKU JD graduates can enroll in BCL every year.
BCL is a project with high degree of freedom, and there is no required course. Students can choose 4 elective courses from more than 40 courses in Oxford Law School every year. All options include lectures, seminars and tutoring, and students can also choose the thesis option to complete their academic papers one-on-one with designated tutors. The program enrolls about 90 students every year.
Master of Laws (m jur)- Full-time
Compared with BCL, the Master of MagisterJuris program is provided by Oxford University Law School for students of civil law system and common law study for non-common law students. Admission requirements are as strict as BCL, and only excellent firstlawdegrees are recruited. Students also have the greatest freedom in choosing courses, and there are no required courses, and most of the optional projects also coincide with BCL projects. The project enrolls about 50 students every year.

The project is taught by Oxford Law School and Oxford Business School. All students have three compulsory courses, namely, First Principles of Financial Economics, Finance and Law, and Economics of Corporate Transactions, and an elective course to choose from. Ncriminology and criminal justice- full-time/part-time
The project is divided into 9-month full-time mode and 2 1 month part-time mode. Compulsory courses include explanation and understanding of criminology, understanding of criminal justice and research design and data collection, and five elective courses covering many fields, such as restorative justice, sentencing, race and gender, death penalty and juvenile delinquency law.
Part-time detoxification
The tax law project is jointly run by the law school and the commercial tax center of the above-mentioned business school. Unlike other master's programs, it is a two-year part-time degree, and the applicants are not limited to lawyers or law school students. In two years' time, students will study nine courses, including three compulsory courses (principles of international taxation and TaxResearchRoundTable) and six elective courses.
