Donghua University is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai. The school was formally established as East China Textile Institute of Technology, which was established on 195 1. The history of the school can be traced back to Nantong Textile Dyeing and Weaving School founded by Zhang Jian, an industrialist in Qing Dynasty, in 19 12 and Donghua University founded in 65438. It is one of the 72 universities directly under the Ministry of Education, the only university in China that has entered the "2 1 1 Project" featuring modern textiles, and also one of the 40 key universities in the "National University Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan" and "Xinjiang Aid Discipline Construction Plan" of the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Shanghai and consists of Yan 'an Road Campus, Songjiang Campus and Xinhua Road Campus. As of April 20 14, the school has three campuses, located in Songjiang District and Changning District, with more than 30,000 students, including nearly15,000 undergraduates, more than 6,000 postgraduates, nearly 5,000 continuing education students and more than 4,000 international students.
