Lanzhou University has two campuses.

The campus covers an area of 3545.298 mu, with 2 campuses and 3 affiliated hospitals. Undergraduate students 19775, graduate students 10572 and doctoral students 2559.

The school has 37 18 faculty members, including 2 135 teaching and research personnel, 836 full-time managers and 42 postdoctoral 142, including 45 postdoctoral teachers. There are 588 professors, 927 associate professors, clinical medicine professors 10 1 person and 252 associate professors.

The school was founded on 1909. Its predecessor was the Gansu Law and Politics School established during the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty. It marks the beginning of modern higher education in Gansu and opens the precedent of higher education in northwest China. 1928 was expanded to Lanzhou Sun Yat-sen University, and 1945 was named National Lanzhou University. After the founding of New China, Lanzhou University adhered to the Party's educational policy, adhered to the correct direction of running a school, developed and expanded, and rose rapidly.

In the adjustment of colleges and universities, it was identified as one of the 14 comprehensive universities in China; Guided by the strategic objectives of "developing the northwest" and "establishing the strategic rear", it has become a university with an important strategic position in the national higher education pattern, shouldering the historical responsibility of cultivating senior professionals and developing science and technology culture for the country, especially the western region.

Since the reform and opening up, the school has firmly grasped the historical opportunity of the country to implement the strategies of "rejuvenating the country through science and education", "strengthening the country through talents", "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", taking emancipating the mind as the guide and reform and opening up as the driving force to comprehensively improve the level of running schools. In 2002 and 2004, the former Gansu Grassland Ecological College and Lanzhou Medical College were merged into Lanzhou University, making the school.

In 20 17, it was successfully selected into the list of "double first-class" universities (Class A), and four first-class disciplines, including chemistry, atmospheric science, ecology and grass science, were selected into the list of "double first-class" disciplines, and the development of the school entered a new era.
