The way of learning in universities is very different from that in high schools. In addition to working as hard as high school, we should get used to consciously demanding ourselves, especially college English learning, without supervision.
Many candidates will say that their English foundation in high school is weak. The weaker you are, the more you should be strict with yourself in college and set yourself some long-term learning goals.
Obtaining CET-4 and CET-6 certificates can definitely be regarded as a meaningful goal. Below, I have compiled some previous experience of preparing for CET-4 and CET-6, and share my experience about CET-4 and CET-6 with you. I hope it will be helpful for your next review.
First, determine the review plan according to your English level.
Before doing anything, we need to know what conditions we have and what shortcomings we have. So is learning English.
① Good grammar foundation in senior high school English. What should I do?
If your English grades in junior high school and senior high school are always good, it can prove that you must learn grammar well. Then what you need to do to prepare for CET-4 and CET-6 is to enlarge your vocabulary and strengthen your listening practice.
Three months before CET-4 and CET-6, you should devote all your energy to doing real questions. My suggestion is that during these three months, you should do a set of real questions every week on average, and it is best to take a model test.
Prepare all necessary tools (such as pencils, pens, MP3 players, answer sheets) and a watch (for timing) before doing the problem. Write down the time when you start to answer the questions, and answer them in the order of the test standards. At the same time, your body and mind should be as focused as the test.
Every time you finish writing a set of papers, spend two hours checking the summary, so as to clarify your own advantages and disadvantages and provide guidance for the next study. The summary should be at the beginning of the paper, next to the test questions.
It is said that the effect is particularly good.
② Weak English foundation in senior high school. What should I do?
If your English is average or poor, you need to do too much.
My suggestion is to make full use of the class for 45 minutes and ask the teacher if you don't understand. Especially some grammars, not all grammars can be understood and mastered by reading grammar books and other materials.
A tutor is better than any information! Besides, what is said here is that if you are determined to take the English certificate, you should make a good plan from the beginning of your freshman year.
How many words to remember every day, how many English articles to read every week, and how many topic compositions to write must be clear. What's more important is to strictly follow the plan. The thinner the English foundation, the more difficult it is to learn.
Second, understand the characteristics of listening
In fact, no matter what your English foundation is. Listening is definitely a stumbling block to preparing for the exam.
Because for every English learner, the difference between reading and listening is:
When reading, we read the words first and then translate the Chinese meaning of the words. This process is repeated every time we read a word. Not knowing or not knowing individual words will not affect your understanding of the general idea of the whole article. And we all have the habit of reading back.
But listening is not good, and the content of listening is relatively short. There is no such thing as listening back, it tests the ability of candidates to capture, understand and transform the information they hear immediately. Sentences and words that you can usually understand may not be understood. In English, there are many phenomena of linking up and losing sonic boom. So it is very important to listen more and listen again and again.
There is no skill in listening.
The highest level of listening practice is to be able to say the sentence completely, listen to each word clearly and understand its meaning.
Try to follow the sound every time you listen. Don't recall what you don't understand, otherwise you will miss the later content and affect your understanding of the main idea.
Don't deliberately think about the meaning of words you don't understand. Listen to the following immediately. Please remember this! While practicing listening, you are also reviewing and consolidating new words.
Third, read more and practice more questions.
Look at this piece. It usually needs a little training. Like other books, when reading articles, we should overcome reading aloud, and strive to read silently, without trembling voice, that is, read with heart. I have to overcome the problem of reading back. Read more books and do more questions, and you will get the main points of reading comprehension.
Fourth, write fixed sentence patterns and fixed collocation.
Writing can't be practiced overnight.
First of all, we should dare to write by ourselves, then compare with the reference composition, find out the shortcomings, outline some fixed collocations, phrases and sentence patterns in the reference composition, and try to remember them.
It is best to write down these collocations and sentence patterns in a notebook.
