At the end of the 20th century, the unprecedented urban development and the unprecedented tense relationship between man and land urgently require the innovation and development of related disciplines. Therefore, Peking University established the Landscape Design Center in 1997, and the School of Landscape Design in 2003, which started the education and research of landscape design, and then established the Architectural Research Center in 2000 to restore the research and education of architecture.

Both the School of Landscape Design and the Architectural Research Center carry out postgraduate education, involving doctoral programs in geography (landscape design), master programs in landscape design, master programs in landscape architecture and master programs in architecture. At the same time, they also carry out various non-academic training to cultivate a group of outstanding talents at home and abroad.

Ten years have passed, and great progress has been made in architecture and landscape design in Peking University. In order to meet the requirements of the times and follow the objective law of discipline development, Peking University decided to integrate architecture and landscape design with disciplines in May 20 10, and set up a new school of architecture and landscape design to provide a more perfect platform for discipline development.

At the opening ceremony of the College, President Zhou Qifeng of Peking University accepted 50 million RMB donated by Mr. Wang Heping, Chairman of Rundili, an outstanding enterprise in the construction and real estate industry, for the development and construction of the College of Architecture and Landscape Design.
