Education in China can be roughly divided into the following stages:

preschool education

secondary education

Universities are ordinary institutions of higher learning, and ordinary higher education refers to academic education that mainly recruits high school graduates for "full-time" study. Pass the national unified examination for enrollment in ordinary colleges and universities. Adult higher education is to recruit "on-the-job" employees for work and study through correspondence, night university and staff university. And pass the adult college entrance examination.

Ordinary universities include adult universities. Adult education includes higher education self-study examination, adult college entrance examination, online education and open education.

Ordinary institutions of higher learning refer to institutions of higher learning that are approved or put on record by the national education administrative department and mainly implement ordinary higher education, which are divided into undergraduate level and junior college level.
