According to the Opinions on Establishing and Perfecting the Financial Aid Policy System for Students from Poor Families in Ordinary Undergraduate Colleges, Higher Vocational Schools and Secondary Vocational Schools, the financial aid policies for students from poor families in colleges and universities, such as national scholarships, national inspirational scholarships, national grants, and national student loans (including national student loans on campus and credit student loans from students' places of origin), have been established, and students from military service colleges have received national education assistance, tuition compensation for grass-roots employment, compensation for new students' entrance loan, work-study programs and tuition reduction.

Before entering school, students from poor families can apply to the county (city, district) level education department where their families are registered, so as to solve the tuition and accommodation fees.
