Cao, a professor at Southwest University, is a master tutor. He used to be director of the Chinese Department, director of the library, deputy director of the academic Committee of the school, and director of the National Chinese Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education. He is a member of Chinese Writers Association, director of the National Mao Zedong Literature and Art Thought Research Association, chairman of Chongqing Library Society, and vice president of Chongqing Literature Society. Editors include General Literature Aesthetics Aesthetic Education published by Higher Education Press, University Library and Campus Culture published by People's Education Press, and Literary Aesthetics published by Southwest Normal University. He has published many papers in Literature and Art Research, Xinhua Digest, Social Science Research and social science front. His works and textbooks have won the National Excellent Textbook Award and outstanding social science achievements in Sichuan and Chongqing.
