Northwestern Polytechnical University (hereinafter referred to as Xigong University), located in Xi City, Shaanxi Province, is a multi-disciplinary, research-oriented and open university featuring the development of personnel training and scientific research in the fields of aviation, aerospace and navigation. It is a national "first-class university" under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

At present, there are 74 undergraduate majors, 37 master's degree-level authorized disciplines and 23 doctoral degree-level authorized disciplines. Five discipline groups, including materials science, engineering, chemistry, computer science and physics, have entered the top of ESI international discipline ranking 1%.
