Located in Beijing, University of Science and Technology Beijing (hereinafter referred to as University of Science and Technology Beijing) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a "double-first-class" construction university, a national "21Project" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction university, and the first batch of "three-round education" comprehensive reform pilot universities of the Ministry of Education.

1952, Beijing Iron and Steel Institute was established by some departments of Beiyang University (now Tianjin University), Tsinghua University, Tangshan Railway Institute, Shanxi University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Northwestern Polytechnical University. 1960, renamed Beijing institute of iron and steel; 1988, renamed University of Science and Technology Beijing.
