Jinan University is one of the earliest universities in China to carry out degree and postgraduate education since the reform and opening-up, and it is also the first university in China with the right to confer degrees. The school began to recruit and train graduate students from 1979. The school actively implements the policy of "facing overseas, facing Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan", takes the lead in overseas part-time postgraduate enrollment in China, and also takes the lead in establishing postgraduate training bases (face-to-face teaching points) overseas.

At present, the school has a strong faculty of 2,499 full-time teachers, including 7 academicians of the two academies (including double employment), Changjiang Scholar 15 (including distinguished professor and Young Changjiang), National Jieqing 19, National Youth 20, "Pearl River Scholar" 5 1 person, and Professor 744. There are 2537 graduate tutors, including 888 doctoral tutors and 649 master tutors/kloc-0. There are more than 3,000 graduate students/kloc-0, including overseas, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan graduate students 1000.

Jinan University has a complete talent training system and a perfect quality assurance system, and was awarded the title of "National Advanced Unit for Degree and Postgraduate Education Management" by the Ministry of Education. At present, the "elite student plan" is being implemented, and the comprehensive reform of graduate education is being carried out, constantly creating good conditions for graduate students to become talents.
