Sichuan Agricultural University, referred to as "Chuannong" for short, is a key agricultural and forestry university sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and headed by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, featuring biotechnology, taking agricultural science and technology as an advantage, and developing agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, medicine, literature, teaching, law and art in a coordinated way. It is a national "2 1658". It has been selected into the 1 1 plan undertaken by the National 973 Plan and the Sichuan 201Plan, the Education and Training Plan for Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents, the Discipline Construction Plan for Aid to Xinjiang and the National Postgraduate Project for Building High-level Universities.

The school can be traced back to the "Sichuan Tongsheng Agricultural School" founded in Chengdu in 1906. The school was formerly the Agricultural College of Sichuan University. 1956, the Agricultural College of Sichuan University moved to Ya 'an to run a school and was named "Sichuan Agricultural College"; 1985, the school was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University.
