Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, located in Jinan City, Shandong Province, is a national key Chinese medicine college. Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has the first and second batch of undergraduate enrollment in and outside Shandong Province, so Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine can be considered as the second institution.

Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1955 as a research class of Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in 1956 as Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. 1958 Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Committee. 1996, renamed Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the approval of the State Education Commission.

By March 2020, the school had more than 3,500 teaching and administrative staff, including 76 doctoral supervisors/kloc-0 and 828 master supervisors. Three people won the honorary title of "Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine", three people won the title of "National Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor", two people won the title of "Huang Qi Scholar", 1 won the title of "973 Project Chief Scientist" and eight people won the title of National Excellent Teacher.
