Second, a brief introduction to Northwest University

Northwest University was founded in 1902 Shaanxi University Hall and Shi Jing University Hall. 19 12 is called Northwest University. 1923 changed to National Northwest University. 1937, the National Peking University, Beiping Normal University, Beiyang Institute of Technology and Beiping Research Institute, which moved westward to Shaanxi, formed the National xi 'an Temporary University. 1938 was renamed as National Northwest United University, and 1939 was renamed as National Northwest University. After the founding of New China, it is a comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education. 1950 changed its name to Northwest University. 1958 transferred to the director of Shaanxi province. 1978 was identified as a national key university. Now it is a national "double-class" construction university, the Ministry of Education and the "2 1 1 project" construction university in Shaanxi Province.

In the long-term development process, Northwest University has formed the school-running philosophy of "carrying forward the national spirit, integrating world thoughts and shouldering the heavy responsibility of building the northwest", gathered many famous teachers, produced a number of high-level academic achievements, trained a large number of outstanding talents who can only serve the world, and enjoyed a good academic reputation and social prestige. Known as "the mother of petroleum talents in China", "the cradle of economists" and "the cradle of writers".

The school has three campuses: Taibai Campus, Taoyuan Campus and Chang 'an Campus, covering a total area of more than 2,360 mu. At present, there are 24 colleges (departments) and graduate schools, 1 Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools and 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals. There are 88 undergraduate majors, of which 32 are selected as national first-class undergraduate majors. At present, there are 24 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 36 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 8 categories authorized by professional degree/kloc-0, and 24 post-doctoral research stations. At present, there are two "world-class disciplines" in geology and archaeology, 1 national key discipline (covering 5 two disciplines), 4 national key disciplines in two disciplines and 1 national key discipline. At present, the school has three 2.0 bases for training top-notch students in basic disciplines of the Ministry of Education, seven national talent training bases, seven national experimental teaching demonstration centers and one national virtual simulation experimental teaching center/kloc-0. The school has 1 National Key Laboratory, 1 National Engineering Technology Research Center, 1 National Belt and Road Joint Laboratory, 1 National Innovative Talents Training Demonstration Base, 3 national international scientific and technological cooperation bases, 3 national and local joint engineering research centers, and 3 national academic innovation and intelligence introduction bases. 1 provincial key laboratory (to be built), 1 key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, 3 national and regional research centers of the Ministry of Education, 1 "Belt and Road" national and regional research center of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, 105 provincial and ministerial scientific research bases.

There are more than 3,000 faculty members in the school, including 4 academicians of China Academy of Sciences, 5 double-hired academicians (professors), 1 academician of International Institute of History of Science 1 person, 1 academician of Academy of Sciences of developing countries 1 person, 23 winners of National "*" Project, 1 winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars 12, and 1 winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars/. There are 17 candidates for the national "100 million talents project", 4 national famous teachers, 25 talents supported by the Ministry of Education in the new century, and 6 young and middle-aged leading talents in scientific and technological innovation by the Ministry of Science and Technology. There are more than 25,000 full-time students, including full-time undergraduates13,000, graduate students 1 1700 and 600 international students.

The school has successively won the first and second prizes of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first and second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, the China Patent Gold Award, and the first prize of the Outstanding Achievement Award (humanities and social sciences) in scientific research in colleges and universities.

The school attaches great importance to foreign scientific and cultural exchanges, and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 20 universities and scientific research institutions in nearly 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan. The Encyclopedia Britannica once listed Northwest University as one of the world famous universities.
