Where should I live to study at the University of Sydney Business School?
For various reasons, I have lived in the east, south, west and north of Sydney, and now there is a senior studying at the University of Sydney. Because I don't know what your priorities are, I have to say all the opinions I know:

[The following is an introduction by region]

In and around the city center:

I want to ask the Lord, you should have investigated the location of the University of Sydney-the university is located in the southwest of the city center. If you want to save school time, you can only live in the city center or its marginal town.

But the problem is that the rent in the city center is very expensive-more than 300~400 Australian dollars a week is common. If you are willing to share a house with others, and the money is not too tight, the CBD (that is, downtown Sydney) with complete facilities and convenient transportation is not a good choice. Areas like Leicester, Waterloo, Surrey Mountain and Zetland on the edge are also good-there are many buses and it is convenient to go to the city center.

Advantages: Close to the university, convenient transportation, convenient shopping and complete equipment.

Disadvantages: the rental price is high, there are many people and noise, and the pollution is relatively large.

East area (such as Maroubra, Malabar, Mascot, Pagewood, Eastlakes, Rosebery, etc.). ):

The rental price in the East District is also higher, but not as bad as that in CBD. Personally, I like the environment there, and sometimes I can find places with reasonable prices. Shopping in Maroubra, Pagewood and Eastlakes is more convenient (there are supermarkets, fruit and vegetable shops, grocery stores and restaurants). In terms of public transportation, only the mascot area can be reached by train (and it is closest to the CBD, but because this area is relatively large, you can't go anywhere by train), and the rest can only be reached by bus. However, many bus numbers come frequently, generally speaking, it takes about an hour (or less) to reach the city center.

Advantages: good public security, convenient transportation and complete equipment.

Disadvantages: the rental price is high, and public cars can only be used in most places.

South District (such as Hurstville, Beverly Hills, Rockdale, Cogala, etc. ):

If your first choice is a place with convenient daily shopping and a good Chinese community, then you can try South Sydney. Some smaller communities such as Carlton are also good, but the public facilities and shopping are not so complete. Most of the southern district has trains, and it takes about an hour to reach the CBD (slightly worse than the eastern district). If you want to live in a prosperous place with more people in China, the South District is the first choice.

Advantages: convenient shopping, low rent, Chinese community and many Chinese restaurants.

Disadvantages: the traffic is average, which is a little old compared with the eastern part and the surrounding area of CBD. Although the public security in my impression is good, it is not as good as that in the east.

West and Southwest: (such as Bankstown, Reefsby, Parramatta, Blacktown, etc. )

I wouldn't recommend West Sydney in particular. Although there are several good areas, the public security in most places is not very good. The rent is low, and there are trains, but they are generally far from the CBD, and the trains are not frequent and inconvenient, so I won't introduce them here. If you ask the Lord which western district you are interested in, please ask me again.

Advantages: the rental price is high, and the environment in some communities is very quiet and comfortable.

Disadvantages: remoteness (if you want to drive to a certain place by yourself, you often have to run the expressway), inconvenient transportation, poor overall public security and mixed crowds.

North District (such as Neutral Bay, Roseveare, Chatsworth, Hornsby, etc.). ):

Beautiful environment and convenient transportation, most of which are connected by trains. But the problem depends on where you live-the area is too small, there are fewer cars; If you live too far north, it will be far from the city center, which is very inconvenient. Chatzwood can be regarded as the center of North Sydney, with convenient restaurants, department stores, trains and buses. Chatzwood and its surrounding areas are good residential areas, but the problem is that the housing prices in the North District are expensive and it is difficult to find a suitable price.

Advantages: good environment, quiet, good traffic in large areas, and well-equipped Chatswood area.

Disadvantages: the rental price is expensive, and many northern communities are far from CBD and the equipment is poor. People without private cars are not recommended to live in.

-

Prices in Sydney are terrible, and many students who attend UNSW and USYD live far away from the school (because rooms in the East District and CBD are really hot and expensive). Like the senior I mentioned, she now lives in Macquarie Field, which is located in the southwest of Sydney, about 40 kilometers away from the city center. As far as I know, there are quite a few students in this situation, so I suggest to be mentally prepared. If you want to live in your favorite area, please investigate as soon as possible.

I'm in a bad mood recently. Please forgive me if there is a typo or something. Good luck. If you have anything, please feel free to PM me.
