Chongqing University Town is located in Huxi Street and Chen Jiaqiao Street in the west of Shapingba District, covering an area of about 20 square kilometers. With beautiful ecological environment, rich cultural atmosphere, developed science and technology industry, perfect comprehensive facilities and open and modern style, it has become a center for training senior talents, scientific research and innovation and an international exchange center for science and technology education in the western region.

Chongqing University Town was established on April 4th, 2003 with the approval of Chongqing Municipal People's Government.

Chongqing University Town is the center of a new town in the west of Chongqing, about 15km away from the city center, with a planned construction area of 33km2, a planned population of 500,000 and a total construction investment of 30 billion yuan. Backed by the beautiful main peak of Jinyun Mountain, overlooking the beautiful scenery of Gele Mountain, with flat terrain, lush trees and convenient transportation. It is planned to settle in 15 colleges and universities,15-200,000 teachers and students, with a social population of 250,000.

The university town emphasizes people-oriented, functional division and resource sharing. It mainly includes urban resource sharing area, university campus area, student residential area, teacher residential area and R&D centralized incubation area.
