Xiong Dazhen's famous teacher student
Xiong Dazhen was very clever and capable, and was deeply appreciated and valued by Mr. Ye, then the dean of Tsinghua University Institute of Science and the head of the Department of Physics. The relationship between teachers and students is very close. Under the guidance of Ye, Xiong Dazhen made rapid progress, was good at integrating theory with practice, and had more operational ability than ordinary people. He once borrowed a Leica camera from the physics department of the school, and opened a small photo studio in the school, named "Tsinghua Photo Studio", and became his own boss. In a year, he actually made a lot of money and bought some new equipment to prepare his graduation thesis. Xiong Dazhen accepted Mr. Ye's suggestion and chose "infrared" (then also called "red interior") photography research. In fact, infrared photography is still a very confidential military technology in the world, and there is no information and lack of funds in China. Xiong Dazhen studied thin films by using the spectrum laboratory of physics department and X-ray diffraction, and achieved a series of breakthrough results. On a dark night, he stood on the peak of ghost story in Xiangshan, and had a panoramic view of the whole Tsinghua campus and the whole Beiping city. This incident caused a great sensation in the higher education circles of Tsinghua and even the whole country at that time. It was later confirmed that this precious photo became the first infrared photo of China.

Xiong Dazhen 1935 graduated from the Physics Department of Tsinghua University, and the topic of his graduation thesis was Infrared Photography Technology. In the autumn of the same year, he stayed in school as a teaching assistant because of his excellent academic performance and continued to engage in infrared research. The following year, he designed and manufactured a large-scale continuous development darkroom for the X-ray laboratory of the famous scientist Wu Heyu, which was rare in China at that time. 1937, Xiong Dazhao was admitted to study in Germany. Just before he went abroad to marry his lover, the "July 7th Incident" broke out, and his fate, like that of the motherland, took a major turning point, which opened the prelude to a great tragedy. After the incident, Tsinghua University moved south and merged with Peking University and Nankai University to form the National Southwest Associated University. In the process of moving to the school, Ye was fully responsible for expediting books, materials, instruments and equipment. Xiong Dazhen gave up going abroad and getting married and became Ye's important assistant. Before the rush was over, the Japanese army stepped into the Tsinghua campus. The quiet and beautiful Tsinghua in Shui Mu became a dirty and chaotic military camp, and the spacious and bright gymnasium became a hospital for the wounded with pus and blood. Ye and Xiong were forced to move to Tianjin, and set up a temporary office in the Alumni Association of Tsinghua University in Gordon Road, British Concession, and arranged to help teachers, students, faculty and their families pass through Tianjin smoothly. During this period, Mr. Ye was unfortunately ill and hospitalized. While taking good care of the teacher, Xiong Dazhen also contacted and arranged for Wang Li, Qian Weichang, Mrs. Zhu Ziqing and other teachers, students and their families to arrive in Kunming safely from Jinnan. After Ye recovered from illness and transferred to another school, Xiong Dazhen should have rushed to Kunming with his teacher to join in the construction and teaching of the new school. However, due to an accidental and seemingly inevitable reason, his future has once again taken a major turning point.
