What is level 4?
CET-4 is a national teaching examination sponsored by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. The main target of the exam is college students, undergraduates or graduate students. Most universities allow students to apply for CET-4 when they are freshmen, but only a few universities do not allow freshmen to apply for CET-4. The reason is probably to make students study longer and improve the pass rate of CET-4 and CET-6 (whether it is effective or not is unknown).
Generally speaking, the examination time of CET-4 is on a Saturday morning (CET-6 in the afternoon) in June and mid-February, 65438. Only when the score of CET-4 is above 425 can you apply for CET-6, so it is generally considered that the passing line of CET-4 and CET-6 is 425. The total score of Band 4 and Band 6 is 7 10.
Second, why do you want to take CET-4?
First of all, most schools attach great importance to CET-4 and CET-6. Although it is expressly stipulated by the Ministry of Education that CET-4 and CET-6 are never required to be linked with degree awarding, schools and employers will judge your English level and learning ability more or less according to your CET-4 and CET-6. Many enterprises will require that they have passed CET-4 and CET-6 when recruiting. Moreover, some positions in the civil service examination also require CET-4 and CET-6.
Without the support of interest, it is difficult for non-English majors to have the intrinsic motivation to learn English. After setting the goal of CET-4 and CET-6, this kind of external motivation will help students improve their English level to a certain extent (for students who prepare for the exam carefully), and may even turn into internal motivation to promote continuous learning. The so-called "promoting learning by examination" is such a truth.
Needless to say, it is important to take the CET-4 exam, whether it is to really improve your English by preparing for the exam or to get a "stepping stone" to find a job. I especially suggest that freshmen must try to take CET-4, because they have just finished the college entrance examination and their English level has not regressed. At this time, it can get twice the result with half the effort while the iron is hot.
Moreover, both freshmen and sophomores have college English courses, have the opportunity to contact English and have the guidance of teachers. After all, with the deepening of the curriculum, there will be more and more specialized courses, and English general courses will inevitably fade. In other words, college students' English level may decline.
