Zhejiang University, referred to as "Zhejiang University", is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and ranks among the national "Double First Class", "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project". It is the Nine Schools Alliance, China University Presidents Association, Pacific Rim University Alliance, World University Alliance, Global University Presidents Forum and the "985 Project" of medicine.
The school, formerly Qiushi College, was founded on 1897 and closed on 19 14. 1928 National Zhejiang University was newly established in the former site of Qiushi College. 1952 developed into the former Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University respectively. 1998, four universities with the same roots merged to form the new Zhejiang University. As of April 2023, the school has seven campuses: Zijingang, Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Zhijiang, Zhoushan and Haining.
