Durham University, founded in 1832, is a public research university located in Durham, England. Durham University is a member of Russell University Group, Global Alliance for Advanced Research in Universities, Pleiades University Alliance, Coimbra University Group, N8 University Alliance, British Northern University Association, European University Association, association of commonwealth universities, RENKEI and Doxbridge. In 2024, Durham University ranked 78th among QS World Universities.
Campus environment
Durham has beautiful scenery and Norman Cathedral is the most beautiful Gothic church in the world. Opposite the church is an ancient castle, which is the home of some students. Castles and churches are world cultural heritages, comparable to the Great Wall in China and the Egyptian pyramids. Many tourists from all over the world come here for sightseeing every year.
There are many tourist attractions in Durham, and there is a large art exhibition in DLI Center. Durham University covers an area of 227.8 hectares, including UNESCO World Heritage Site 1, ancient monuments 1, 5 registered first-class cultural relics protection buildings, 68 registered second-class cultural relics protection buildings and 44.9 hectares of forests. The whole school is divided into two campuses: Durham Campus and Queens Campus in stockton. These two campuses can often take a 24-hour bus.
One of the main public attractions in Durham Campus is the Botanical Garden, which was built in 1970 and covers an area of 7.3 hectares. As of August 2007, the website had received 78,000 visitors.
Durham University is a collegiate university. The college of this school is a boarding college, which provides an excellent place for students to participate in social and academic activities. Colleges are not responsible for teaching, but departments are responsible for teaching.
