Zeng Guofan's Family Summary
Zeng Xiankai, a scholar with profound knowledge of literature and history.

She is Ceng Xianzhi's sister. On the basis of inheriting her family studies, she received a systematic new education with a solid knowledge base.

Zeng Xiankai (1908— 1985) is Ceng Guoquan's great-granddaughter. His father Zeng graduated from Hunan Public Law School and served as a judge in Xiakou District Court of Hubei Province. Zeng Xiankai has two brothers. Brother Zeng, Bachelor of Agriculture from National Central University, Master of Science from University of London, UK; My brother Zhu Xian graduated from West China University. There are three sisters: my sister Ceng Xianzhi; Second sister Zeng, Bachelor of Science, Hunan University; Third sister Zeng Xianjie graduated from Shanghai Guanghua University. Zeng Xiankai graduated from Changsha Fang Yi Girls' School founded by Zeng Baosun in his early years, then entered Hunan University with a bachelor's degree in arts, and then went to yenching university to study and get a master's degree in arts. After the founding of New China, she taught at Renmin University of China for a long time and served as professor and deputy director of the Institute of Literature and History.

As Zeng's eldest daughter, Zeng Xiankai was pampered by her father and received strict family education since she was a child. Because her father was a typical scholar under the careful guidance of his great-grandmother, he became a scholar at the age of fourteen. Therefore, under the influence of this scholarly family atmosphere, Zeng Xiankai works hard. She is very smart and has strong self-reliance and activity ability. While studying at Hunan University, she was trained by her uncle Zeng Zhaoquan, who was then the head of the electromechanical department of Hunan University. Not only did she get excellent grades in all subjects, but she also had strong social skills. At that time, Hunan University was not as narrow as it was later. Zeng Xiankai's major is liberal arts, so his theoretical foundation of literature and history and professional basic knowledge are very solid. As early as when she was studying in Fang Yi Girls' School, she initiated the establishment of Lushan Summer Poetry Club, which not only made a splash in organizational talent, but also brought her literary talent into full play. According to the article "Public Revelation" written by Zhao reprinted in the book "Hometown of Heroes among Women-Chronicle of Lotus Leaves", we can see that the author's writing is vivid, sophisticated and, more importantly, full of patriotic passion. "The battle between the two rivers was bloody and thrilling. Chu Shi is very sad, and the river keeps flowing day and night. Xiang Liu has tears, feelings and ambition to sing. When you are hurting the scenery, you will be moved by emotions. If you can't be yourself, there is no song club, why should you be Shen Yahuai? " Here, the author expresses great indignation at the atrocities committed by the Japanese invaders, and also feels that the motherland is about to sink. "Every man is responsible for the rise and fall of the world." Poetry can arouse people's will to fight together and defend the country to the death. After Ceng Xianzi initiated the establishment of this poetry club, it is difficult to draw a conclusion about how many poems she and her colleagues have written because of the lack of data. However, judging from the three existing poems of Zeng Xiankai reprinted in Lotus Leaf Chronicle, his poetic history skills are profound. For example, there is such a poem in "Ode to an Epic": "The fame of England is eternal, but the world is indifferent. The child spans 8 thousand, and the river is sealed. Yu Ge resigned from the tiger account, and he lost the gap. Success or failure is constant, and Long Xing said Liu Han. " This poem evaluates the merits and demerits of Xiang Yu, the overlord of Chu, and at the same time guides people to review history, base themselves on reality and look forward to the future with its broad mind. It can be seen that Ceng Xianzi's knowledge of poetry history is very profound.

As far as the basic skills of literature, history and philosophy are concerned, Zeng Xiankai has both. For example, in the article "The Relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism and Taoism in the Song Dynasty", she clearly advocated "eliminating its shortcomings and preserving its strengths" and thought that "the relationship can be clearly understood." Since ancient times, there has been a portal dispute between different schools on how to deal with the relationship between Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Everyone wants to occupy a dominant position and become an important ideological tool used by feudal rulers. Until the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China and even the 1940s, this situation still existed in academic circles. Ceng Xianzi put forward the viewpoint of academic harmony, mutual penetration and learning from each other's strengths. The inheritance, continuity and complementarity of culture are based on dialectical philosophy. Therefore, she pointed out that even Neo-Confucianism, which was regarded as one of the mainstream schools by feudal rulers for a long time, developed Confucianism and formed a "new academic" school on this basis, but it did not leave the inheritance of tradition. "New prosperity must be built on the old foundation", which is an irreversible law of human society, including academia. It should be said that this view of Zeng is still enlightening today. For another example, she is in "Blasphemy" (Yi, omitted >; This paper makes an in-depth analysis and investigation of the contention of a hundred schools of thought and three religions and nine streams, enriching and developing the academic thought in the article "The Relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism and Taoism in Song Dynasty". Ceng Xianzi pointed out: "It is useful to examine the heavens and the earth, analyze the principles of all things and promote their strengths." Whether it is nature or human society, whether it is experts, scholars, heroes or ordinary people, they all have their own advantages and disadvantages; It is precisely because each has its own advantages and disadvantages that it is possible to be harmonious and unified; It is precisely because of their differences that harmony and unity are possible. As far as academic research is concerned, although there is a difference between "Tao" and "Shu", "Nine schools judge Tao but not Shu", that is to say, it is impossible for nine schools not to be elegant, and its function is mainly reflected in the ideological and theoretical level. Because, "Tao is also the purpose of learning; Skilled surgeons can also learn. " Furthermore, she pointed out: "The Tao and the technique are complementary." Here, the author regards "Tao" and "Shu" as contradictory unity of opposites and emphasizes their inseparable importance and inevitability. This view is obviously of high academic value. For another example, in Wen Shuo, Ceng Xianzi systematically and rationally inherited and developed Zeng Tianfan's academic viewpoint that "Wen is unreasonable, both Wen and Dao should be paid equal attention to, and should change with the times". In this article, she first pointed out: "The writer's ambition is also there. Emotion moves in the middle, but the form is in words; Reason is hidden in the heart, but it is obvious in the text. " In other words, the composition should have feelings, pay attention to the elaboration of ideas, and don't pay attention to flowery rhetoric while closing your eyes and telling empty truths. Furthermore, she stressed: "Articles are immortal events, unique and eternal." Why is it "eternal"? The reason lies in "changing with time". Because of this, "writing is widely used." Touching. " An article with beautiful words and rich contents, which plays a great role in enlightening people's minds, will be immortal and spread through the ages. Finally, Ceng Xianzi analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of lyric and Taoist works: "However, lyric works still stress quality. The text of the Tao, where reason is better than words. " If we can combine the advantages and disadvantages of the two to achieve the goal of "combining emotion with qi, words with * * *, ringing the sound of the yellow bell, showing Zhu Jian's talent, expressing the truth and meaning beautifully, and pursuing the ultimate in words, making it graceful and natural like a lotus flower", we can give full play to "writing to its best"

From the above, we can see that Ceng Xianzi has a profound knowledge base, no matter from the skills and basic skills of writing poems, or the embodiment of the ideological content of writing poems, the understanding and grasp of academic schools, and the evaluation and selection of academic viewpoints. This foundation is not only the result of Zeng Jiafeng's edification, but also the result of her hard study and in-depth thinking.

Her works are popular and profound, simple and elegant, and full of patriotic feelings.

Even though the author didn't systematically collect the first-hand information of Ceng Xianzi's historical monographs and papers, Ceng Xianzi's monographs and writings relayed in Zhao's "Hometown of Heroes among Women-Lotus Leaf Chronicle" clearly reflected the author's strong and profound realistic feelings of patriotism and love for the nation. That is to say, Ceng Xianzi regards history as a tool with special social education function to stimulate and inspire people's consciousness and fighting spirit.
