1. Geography:
Leeds University is not large, so unlike some other universities, the campus is scattered, and it is more convenient for all colleges to walk together.
Almost all the buses in front of the door go to the city center, starting from 1 pound.
It is also convenient to take a taxi. There is always a taxi parked in front of the door.
Sometimes after class, my classmates and I will sneak into the city center for dinner and go home.
2. Accommodation:
Schools not far from the school and the city center have student apartments and company-run apartments.
Student apartments are relatively expensive, ranging from 4,300 to more than 6,000 pounds a school year. Foreign roommates are more likely to have parties or something.
In order to be quiet and economical, there are also many good houses for rent around the school. You can go to unipol's website and have a look.
You can also ask the student union for housing help.
3. Diet:
There is more than one canteen in the school, but most people go to the museum of the student union.
Buffet is easy to get tired of eating too much, and foreigners eat salty food differently from us.
Therefore, many people will go to the small restaurant downstairs to eat (pizza and bread), and there is a small supermarket to meet the basic needs, and they can also buy instant noodles with suitable taste (1 kg), Korean instant noodles and so on.
There are also many people who choose to bring their own meals. They can go to the student cafe next to the small supermarket for free hot meals, as well as billiards and many sofa chairs.
There are also small restaurants to choose from near the school. If it is not enough, go directly to the housing center and have everything.
4. Entertainment and shopping:
Leeds is famous for its nightlife. There are many bars and cinemas at every point.
There is karaoke in China restaurant next to China supermarket in downtown, but it is not cheap.
If you go shopping, the Trinity Mall in the downtown area is quite big, like a center. The first and second floors are shops of various brands, such as Apple Victoria's Secret, HM TOPSHOP, Swarovski Pandora and so on. On the third floor, there are cinemas and restaurants.
There are also various shops in the direct shopping street next to Sany, such as hotel chocolate MK LV and so on.
In addition, there are several shopping malls with various brands of cosmetics counters, such as Armani Channel Shu Uemura.
The more advanced shopping plaza is Victoria Square, which feels very beautiful (see the picture below). It brings together higher-end brands such as vivienne westwood and paul smith (all the above shopping is concentrated in the city center, which is very convenient).
In addition to supermarkets, there is also a good place to buy food, that is, the Leeds market in the city center (see the picture below), next to Victoria Square.
It has a beautiful appearance and a history of 100 years.
You can buy all kinds of fruits and vegetables, seafood (more varieties than supermarkets and cheaper), some restaurants and a Hong Kong-style bacon shop.
There are also shops that buy wool and various other things.
For example, when I went, I spent 50p to buy a Chinese cabbage and ate it for several days. The emphasis is on the absolute China flavor.
5. Library:
There are three libraries in the school (not including the one under construction now), each with a different style.
The one in Parkinson's House should be the oldest one, with a rich collection of books and convenient self-study.
6. Activities:
I think the student union is a treasure house. There are different activities every day to learn about the cultural types of different countries.
There are also cocktail making classes and Harry Potter broom making classes. You can take a free brochure and read it. It has introductions and recommendations.
Every once in a while, Sue will show free movies, organize classmates to go out for an outing in other cities, and sometimes there is a retro commodity market.
These are all self-registration according to interest. Every Monday, farmers sell their own vegetables and handmade cakes and bread at Sue's door.
For Leeds, you can't miss many points on the annual bonfire night. Last year, I went to the biggest point with a huge bonfire (that is, the kind where you can see the flames soaring into the sky from a few hundred meters away) and a fireworks show.
Last year, there was a parade of soldiers, the mayor and other dignitaries, and I also went to the city hall to join in the fun.
Besides, there must be various theme parties in the bar during the festival. . It's not boring as long as you don't stay at home.
7. Public safety:
Although it is said that big cities in Britain are not better than small cities, I think it's nothing.
It is safe around the school. The unsafe place at night is near Hyde Park. I don't live in a rich area. There are many Muslims living around, but I feel that no one has come back at around 8: 30 at the latest and does not go out at night.
My roommates came back late at 10 or 1 1. They came back by taxi or bus, so you can take a taxi or call a taxi if you feel at ease when you come back at night, such as amber (you can mortgage your student ID card if you don't have the money to pay the fare). The student union will have a bus to take you home at night. It's cheap, but I haven't tried it.
There may be drunks on the roadside on weekend nights, but the city center is ok, and the rest is not clear. Anyway, pay attention.
In short, public security is not a problem at all, just don't die yourself.
8. Language
There is a language area in the school, and there are a lot of materials for learning languages. Also found some unknown romance novels in China.
The language exchange program is newly opened in the past year, which allows two people who are interested in the other country's language to know and communicate.
Just fill out an application form in the language area.
I hope the answer is helpful to you and I hope it will be adopted.
