When was Nanyang Public School established?
Nanyang Public School was founded in 1896 (the 22nd year of Guangxu).

Nanyang College is the predecessor of Xi Jiaotong University and Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Founded at the end of 1896, with the approval of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, it was founded by Sheng Xuanhuai, Minister of Railway Supervision. Together with Beiyang University, it is the earliest university founded by China people in modern history of China. It is the earliest school in China with a complete education system of normal schools, primary schools, middle schools and universities, among which normal schools are the earliest new normal schools in modern China.

Part of the school's funds are donated by businessmen (that is, China Merchants and Telegraph Bureau) and part of them are funded by officials. That's a public school. In the late Qing Dynasty, Shanghai was called Nanyang, so the school was named Nanyang Public School.

19 12, the school was placed under the Ministry of Communications of Beijing National Government and renamed as Shanghai Industrial College of the Ministry of Communications; 192 1 year, when Ye Gongchuo was the chief transportation officer of Beiyang government, the three universities (Shanghai, Beijing and Tang) affiliated to the Ministry of Communications were renamed as Jiaotong University, and the school was named Shanghai School of Jiaotong University.

Original site of public school:

1896 (twenty-two years of Guangxu in Qing dynasty), Nanyang Public School was founded in Xujiahui, Shanghai, and it was renamed many times, among which "Jiaotong University" was the most famous. Since its establishment, the school site has undergone two major changes.

The first time was during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. The National Government ordered Jiaotong University to move to Chongqing as national chiao tung university, located in Jiulongpo, Chongqing, and moved back to Shanghai after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. The second time was shortly after the founding of New China. In order to support the development of the western region, the State Council has permanently rooted Jiaotong University in the western region, and Xi Jiaotong University has moved to Xi 'an, with its campus in Xingqing Palace in Xi 'an.

1On July 7th, 937, the Lugouqiao Incident broke out and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression began. After the fall of Shanghai, the campus was occupied by Japanese invaders. 1April 1938, East Asia Wentong College occupied the Xujiahui school building of Jiaotong University for its own use, and it was used until1August 1945 when the Anti-Japanese War was won.

After the founding of New China, in order to meet the needs of socialist construction and national defense construction, change the unreasonable layout of higher education left over from old China and support the social and economic development in the western region, the State Council decided to move Jiaotong University from Shanghai to Xi 'an (1955).

1959, the State Council decided to separate Xi 'an and Shanghai schools of Jiaotong University. Xi Jiaotong University was named Xi Jiaotong University as the main body, and Peng Kang, the former president of Xi Jiaotong University, was appointed as the president of Xi Jiaotong University. The remaining Shanghai part of Jiaotong University was renamed Shanghai Jiaotong University after cooperating with another school.

At the beginning of Jiaotong University's westward migration, the central government decided to permanently give the original site of Xujiahui Jiaotong University to another school, and the school that accepted the site became today's Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Jiaotong University moved twice, and the original site was used by other schools. During the Anti-Japanese War, Jiaotong University moved to Chongqing, and Xujiahui became the seat of East Asian Wentong College. After liberation, Jiaotong University moved westward to Xi 'an, and the original site became today's Xujiahui Campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The first time the school moved to Chongqing was temporary, and the second time it moved to Xi 'an was permanent-"March into science and build the northwest!"
