The following are the questions I have sorted out, which most students will ask. I hope that I will be grateful to my classmate O (? _? )O!
1. What are the requirements for applying for a master's degree in teaching in a public university?
National University of Singapore:
1) College background: 2 1 1 Engineering colleges are preferred, or excellent graduates.
2) Professional background: science and engineering are preferred, and liberal arts students 2 1 1 engineering are better.
3) Language requirements: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 85. If the language is unreasonable, some majors have alternative exams.
4) Those with work experience and internship experience are preferred.
Nanyang Technological University:
1) college background: 2 1 1 engineering colleges are preferred, or two graduates are excellent, with an average score of over 90 points.
2) Professional background: science and engineering are preferred, and liberal arts students 2 1 1 engineering are better.
3) Language requirements: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80. If the language is unreasonable, some majors have alternative exams.
4) Those with work experience and internship experience are preferred.
2. What is the difference between the Master of Research and the Master of Curriculum Work?
Generally speaking, the master's degree in public universities in Singapore can be divided into research work and course work, and many Commonwealth countries have such a classification, such as Australia, Hong Kong and Britain. The former is relatively demanding, requiring GRE or GMAT, with a long academic system, generally 2-3 years, mainly guided by tutors, and students are divided into groups to conduct experiments or research; The latter is a teaching class with a short academic system, generally 65,438+0-2 years, and the requirements are relatively low. Generally, GRE or GMAT (a few professional requirements) is not required, and the tutor will teach and complete the homework.
3. Can I apply for a master's degree in teaching without language scores? Is there an alternative exam?
Generally speaking, the National People's Congress cannot be exempted from language achievement. National University requires teaching master IELTS 6.5. If there is no language or the language is not up to 6.5, and other conditions are excellent, you can apply for conditional admission, submit enough language scores within the specified time, or apply for formal admission, but you need to take an extra English test at school, that is, the DET(Diagnostic English Test) exam, which is mainly set for students who have no language or whose language is not up to the standard. If a student has the level of IELTS 6.0 or so, but has no time to take the IELTS test, then the exam will be passed.
NTU, if it is science and engineering, other conditions are better and the chances of exemption are greater. But I also take the English additional exam, that is, the EPT (English Proficiency Test) exam. Different from NUS, this exam was conducted before the admission notice was issued.
4. How difficult is it to apply for a master's degree? What is the gold content?
Compared with research-oriented masters of the same major, it is generally much easier to apply for teaching-oriented masters, because students of teaching-oriented masters need to pay tuition fees and enroll more students. However, in recent years, the number of applicants for master of teaching has also increased year by year, so the competition is fierce, especially in some popular subjects of business, and GT applications have also appeared. As for teaching? Gold content? For finding a job, there are enough masters in teaching, the curriculum is completely employment-oriented, and the master's degree is internationally recognized. Therefore, the general master of teaching is not suitable for future study, but for employment.
5. Can I only apply for full-time courses? Can I apply for part-time courses?
International students must apply to the Immigration Bureau for a student permit, which is only issued to full-time students, not to part-time students. If international students want to apply for part-time courses, they need to obtain the qualification granted by the Singapore Immigration Bureau (EP/SP) before entering the school, and the school will assist students to apply for student permits.
6. Preparation of application materials and documents?
Only a copy of the document is required, and the original will be required later.
1. Two passport photos.
Two inches, white background
2. Copy of ID card/passport
3. Transcripts and attendance certificates
Freshman: proof of study, transcripts of three years (six semesters) in college, bilingual in Chinese and English.
Previous students: graduation certificate, copy of degree certificate, translation (seal), four-year (8 semesters) university transcripts, bilingual in Chinese and English.
4.PS, recommendation letter, need to use the school name paper, need the professor's seal or signature.
5. Original remittance receipt for application fee.
6. Copy of IELTS/TOEFL transcripts
*GRE is not necessary
7. Do you need a guarantee or deposit certificate in the application materials?
NTU: No need.
NUS: Yes, 15000 Singapore dollars. It is suggested to deposit RMB 6,543,800+until May.
8. What is the amount and payment method of the university application fee?
Singapore dollar: S $20
NTU: 2 1.4 SGD
Every time you apply for a major, you need an application fee and independent application materials, which can be a draft or a dual-currency credit card to pay the application fee.
9. Tuition and grant applications? Living expenses?
Do not apply for government subsidy: 6,543,800 yuan+0.5 million yuan/year.
Application for government funding: 60,000 yuan/year.
The application amount is about 40% of the total tuition fee.
Living expenses: 1000 SGD/month.
The general academic system of public master's degree in Singapore is one year, and the master's course is completed. Tuition and living expenses are about 654.38 million RMB. If students can work, they can solve some living expenses.
When applying for a government grant, the principal student gets an admission notice and agrees to sign a three-year employment agreement. After the completion of the master's course, you can apply for services in Singapore or branches registered by Singapore enterprises in China, without any additional conditions!
10. About the accommodation of public universities in Singapore
Singapore is a land with an inch of gold, and the accommodation provided for international students, especially master students, is limited.
Compared with NTU, accommodation in NUS is better to apply for. Anyway, all my students have applied, and they live in Utown, where there is Starbucks. Because Utown is newly built, if students who enter school in August/October1August, they basically live in Utown. In addition to the teaching building, supermarket and so on, there is even Starbucks nearby. Luxurious facilities, good accommodation environment, and of course expensive.
It is difficult to apply for accommodation in NTU. There are two choices, Nanyang Valley or Graduate School. Several of my students have applied, but some have applied for Nanyang Valley, or have applied for lottery. However, it is very easy to apply for accommodation near NTU. When you come out of Nanyang Park, you cross an overpass. There are a lot of rental houses opposite, and there are many rental houses. A single room costs about 350-400 Singapore dollars.
