Xiamen University School of Mathematical Sciences has a long history. The Department of Mathematics of Xiamen University, founded in 1922, is the predecessor of the School of Mathematical Sciences.

Mathematics and applied mathematics

Mathematics and applied mathematics are national first-class undergraduate majors and national characteristic majors, and they are one of the top ten dominant majors of Xiamen University. Mathematics undergraduate major was selected into the "Strong Foundation Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and it is the national "Basic Science Research and Teaching Talents Training Base". Mathematics was selected as "Top-notch Student Training Program 2.0 in Basic Subjects" by the Ministry of Education. Mathematics in Xiamen University has a long history. Mathematics Department was founded in 1923, which is one of the earliest departments of Xiamen University. In 2003, the School of Mathematical Sciences was established.

At present, the college has the right to award the first-class doctoral degree in mathematics and statistics and the post-doctoral mobile station in mathematics and statistics, covering five doctoral and master's programs in two disciplines: basic mathematics, computational mathematics, probability and mathematical statistics, applied mathematics and operational research, and cybernetics. Among them, basic mathematics is a national key discipline, and mathematics is a key discipline in Fujian Province and "2 165438" and "985" in Xiamen University.
