National ranking of Northwest Normal University 162. The school is one of the first units in the State Council with the right to award bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree. At present, there are 1 doctoral programs and1professional doctoral programs in first-class disciplines such as education, chemistry, China language and literature, China history, mathematics, physics, geography, psychology, biology, fine arts and Marxist theory.

The school also has 30 first-level discipline master programs, 1 two disciplines master program (excluding the first-level discipline coverage) and 19 professional master programs.

The school has 2 national key disciplines, 1 1 provincial first-class disciplines and 36 provincial key disciplines. Chemistry, materials science and engineering are among the top global rankings of ESI 1%. Nine disciplines entered Class B in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation. There are 8 1 undergraduate majors (including 9 national specialty majors, 22 national first-class undergraduate majors and 7 provincial first-class undergraduate majors), forming a reasonable degree authorization system.
