University of Science and Technology Liaoning, located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, is one of the earliest metallurgical universities in China, and has been selected into the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education and the "National New Engineering Research and Practice Project".
The school was founded in 1948, Anshan Institute of Technology was founded in 1949, 1950 was changed to Anshan Branch of Northeast Institute of Technology, 1958 was upgraded to Anshan Iron and Steel Institute at undergraduate level, and 1998 was transferred to Liaoning Provincial Government by the Ministry of Metallurgy, and the system established by the central and local governments was implemented. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology in 2002 and Liaoning University of Science and Technology in 2006.
