Its predecessor was Changchun Automobile and Tractor College, which was founded in 1954. It once belonged to the Ministry of Machinery Industry of People's Republic of China (PRC) (Top 1), and 1998 belonged to the Ministry of Education. 1958 changed its name to Jilin University of Technology. It is a multidisciplinary national key university integrating engineering, management, science and literature, with advantages and characteristics of automobiles and agricultural machinery.
