World University Ranking of Civil Engineering Major
Ranking of world universities specializing in civil engineering: Cardiff University, Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, French National Road and Bridge Institute, Leuven University, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Aachen University of Technology, Rome University, Data Transmission Unit, Vienna University of Technology.

Civil engineering mainly studies the basic knowledge and technology of survey, design, construction, maintenance and repair of various land engineering facilities, and carries out new construction, reconstruction or expansion of various engineering buildings, as well as survey, planning, design and construction of related supporting facilities.

The main engineering facilities include houses, roads, railways, pipelines, tunnels, bridges, dams and mines. The so-called civil engineering refers to the planning, construction and maintenance of all infrastructure related to water, soil and culture.

General civil engineering projects include: roads, water supply, drainage, flood control works and transportation. In the past, all civil engineering for non-military purposes fell into this category, but with the increasingly broad engineering science, many contents that originally belonged to the category of civil engineering have become independent disciplines.

Civil engineering in a narrow sense is civil engineering, that is, building engineering (or structural engineering), bridge and tunnel engineering, geotechnical engineering, highway and urban roads, railway engineering and so on.
