Communication engineering (also known as information engineering, telecommunication engineering, formerly known as long-distance communication engineering and weak current engineering) is an engineering discipline with electrical and computer engineering as the center and the principle and application of information transmission and signal processing in the communication process as the research object, aiming at supporting and strengthening the telecommunication system. Communication engineering is based on mathematical equations in applied mathematics.

Signal and system is a compulsory course for communication engineering, information engineering, electronic information engineering, automation, electronic science and technology, measurement technology and instruments in colleges and universities. These concepts and analysis methods are widely used in communication, electronic information engineering, detection technology, automatic control, signal and information processing, circuits and systems.
