1, the number of doctoral supervisors is small, the number of admissions is reduced, and the proportion of professional doctoral admissions is increased.
The number of doctoral supervisors has decreased. In order to train students strictly, many colleges and universities cancel the doctoral tutor qualification after examining some doctoral tutors who have delayed or dropped out of school, have poor academic performance and have poor ability to guide students' scientific research work (Central South University has cancelled the doctoral enrollment qualification of many tutors in recent years).
Limit the number and direction of doctoral students. It turns out that some tutors can recruit students from basic disciplines such as clinical medicine, pharmacology and stem cells at the same time, but after review, some tutors are restricted to enroll students in multiple directions and allowed to enroll students in a certain research direction;
Registration policy has changed. In response to the national policy, some medical schools want to expand the enrollment of professional doctors, but the number of tutors is limited, which can only reduce the proportion of academic doctors, but the overall enrollment quota will not change much.
You may get nothing by reading a PhD. Although the policy needs to train more medical students to do clinical work, not all tutors are qualified to guide the training of a doctoral student, which will lead to a decline in the quality of doctoral students. Some students came with the expectation of getting doctoral research and quality of work, but they got nothing. Instead, I wasted my good years and went to work early.
2. The proportion of the registration system has increased, and the proportion of the unified examination has decreased.
It takes enough preparation time to take a professional exam, especially for doctoral exams in some medical schools, which requires a lot of English. It is difficult for doctors who are already working in the clinic to have complete and dedicated preparation time, so it is very likely that they will sign up for the exam just to enliven the atmosphere. In addition, many students will contact their tutors in advance before taking the exam, get the approval of the tutors, and have been interviewed in advance and screened by the tutors. Even some students have been studying and working in the tutor's research group for some time before the unified examination.
The increase in the proportion of applicants is very beneficial for medical students who have scientific research ability or outstanding scientific research achievements, or there are cooperative projects between tutors, and it is very beneficial for tutors to recommend students to another tutor for further study. This model is more and more close to the foreign doctoral application method, that is, students recommend themselves, go through interviews, or the current research group PI recommends them to another research group. The registration system is not conducive to general scientific research achievements, or medical students who just want to seek a degree.
Whether it is the registration system or the unified examination, it is not conducive to the doctors who have already participated in the work to continue their studies.
Studying for a doctorate in medical school will only be more and more limited to medical students with strong scientific research ability and outstanding academic achievements who will engage in scientific research in the future. These medical students will be more and more concentrated in colleges and universities after they come out, while those with average or poor family background, backward scientific research ability, few tutor resources and shallow contacts will only get farther and farther away from the gates of colleges and universities.
People inside the wall want to come out, people outside the wall want to go in, and so does doctoral study in medical college.
Many medical doctors are faced with the problems of difficulty in graduation, postponement of graduation or dropping out of school. The reasons are that the academic atmosphere of the research group is not strong, the tutor's guidance ability is average, the funds are insufficient, the experimental conditions are poor, and the students' projects overlap. This will destroy a doctor of medicine's work belief. Many medical school research groups with general resources do not meet the pursuit of a medical student's learning goals. It is suggested that medical students must know all aspects of a research group before studying for a doctorate.
