This paper briefly introduces several mainstream modeling competitions.

(1) National Mathematical Modeling Competition for College Students: The national competition generally refers to the "Higher Education Society" Cup Mathematical Modeling Competition.

Registration: The registration time of each university may be different. Some universities have to pre-select the school competition first, and start to register in May-June. Please pay attention to the website of the relevant academic affairs office and the website of the School of Mathematics. Registration fee 300 yuan (some schools will refund the registration fee to encourage everyone to participate actively, and maybe the school will give a generous bonus if they win the prize ~ ~). Sign up for teams, with no more than 3 people in each team (so it can also be 2 people or 1 person), and each team must have a mentor. (Matters needing attention about team formation will be discussed in detail later)

Training: Some schools will organize model training in the summer semester. If there is, I suggest you listen to it ~ If there is no training, take a good look at it yourself ~

Competition time: The competition is usually held in the first half of September every year. The competition starts at 8: 00 am on Friday and lasts for three days and three nights until 8: 00 am next Monday. (I'll talk about the allocation of time in detail later)

During the competition: teams can use books and internet materials to help build models during the competition, and they can also consult teachers if they have any questions. In principle, they don't communicate with each other (in principle ...). There are two questions, A and B, which need to be answered. PS: The number of winners of the last two questions AB is the same, so if 7000 and 300 teams choose questions A and B respectively, and there are 20 places in the first prize of the national competition, then the winning proportion of questions A and B is different, but it is up to you to choose the easy one ~ (I will talk about changing the questions later)

Contest submission: submit the paper version to the School of Mathematics, package and compress the papers, data and programs and send them to relevant teachers.

Competition defense: teams that enter the national competition winners list in the first trial need to defend, and the progress of the first trial in each province may be different, some may defend at the end of September, and some may be 10 month. There is a brief introduction of 3-5 minutes at the beginning of the defense, so it is good for each team to choose a glib partner to speak. The main purpose of defense is to verify the truth, so as long as it is done by yourself, there should be no problem. The defense may ask questions about models, software or programs. Of course, it is also possible to fail in the defense. If you fail, you will be demoted.

(2) Mathematical Modeling Competition for American College Students:

Registration: The registration in the United States is a little more complicated than the national competition ... Here I attach the website of official website, and then we will talk about it slowly.

Generally, registration can be started in the second half of the year (I forgot the specific time, about 1 1 month), and the competition → registration.

Contest (here you need to register with the instructor's email, so you need to contact the teacher in advance to make sure that the teacher is willing to guide, and register with the teacher's email, and each teacher can guide at most 2 teams). Competition time: Around the Spring Festival (this is very tragic and makes many people unable to participate in the competition, but I believe it is worthwhile for those students who have the courage to give up the Spring Festival and devote themselves tirelessly to the modeling competition). Four. Time allocation

There are often little brothers and sisters modeling. Do you want to stay up late? Of course, some people can get good grades without staying up late, but most people need to stay up late. Regarding time allocation, modeling usually starts at 8: 00 on Friday morning. I suggest you decide whether to do question A or question B before noon, and see which question has more ideas.
