School of visual arts is two schools, founded in September 2005. It is a new comprehensive art undergraduate college with state-owned investment as the main body, other social forces, private funds and mixed ownership.

The original name of the school is school of visual arts, Fudan University. On April 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was changed from an independent secondary college of Fudan University to an independent school of visual arts in Shanghai.

There are 329 full-time teachers, including full-time professors, associate professors 158, more than 480 part-time teachers, and more than 80 honorary professors, visiting professors and part-time professors.

There are 206 full-time teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 62% of the total number of full-time teachers, and there are 158 teachers with associate senior and above professional and technical positions (including 6/kloc-0 teachers with senior professional and technical positions), accounting for 48% of the total number of full-time teachers.
