World-class universities and world-class disciplines, referred to as "double-class" for short, are major strategic decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. They are also another national strategy in China's higher education field after the "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", which is conducive to enhancing the comprehensive strength and international competitiveness of China's higher education and realizing the "two hundred years" struggle.
Hunan University, referred to as "Huda", is located in Changsha. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. The school has a graduate school and 23 colleges, and the disciplines cover philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, medicine, art and so on 1 1 disciplines.
Zhengzhou University, referred to as "Zheng Da" for short, is located in Zhengzhou and is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Henan Provincial People's Government. It is a world-class university. Medical education in Zhengzhou University originated from the National Fifth Sun Yat-sen University 1928. Henan Medical College 1952 was established independently, and 1984 was renamed as Henan Medical University. In July 2000, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University merged to form the new Zhengzhou University.
