School of Engineering and Technology of Southwest University has eight full-time undergraduate majors, including agricultural mechanization and automation, mechanical design and manufacture and automation, vehicle engineering, agricultural building environment and energy engineering, civil engineering, automation, electronic science and technology, electrical engineering and automation, among which agricultural mechanization engineering is the key discipline in Chongqing. There are 1 master's degree programs in agricultural engineering, including four master's degree programs: agricultural mechanization engineering, agricultural bio-environment and energy engineering, agricultural soil and water engineering, and agricultural electrification and automation. There are 1 doctoral programs in agricultural engineering, including four doctoral programs in agricultural mechanization engineering, agricultural bio-environment and energy engineering, agricultural soil and water engineering, agricultural electrification and its automation, two professional master's degree awarding programs and two self-established doctoral programs.

The key scientific research fields of the college involve: modern design and manufacturing of mechanical products, digital design and manufacturing, manufacturing informatization, networked manufacturing, intelligent detection, automatic control technology and equipment (robot technology, DSP technology), automobile vibration and noise control, numerical simulation technology of internal combustion engine, image processing, near infrared spectrum analysis, development strategy and planning of agricultural mechanization, performance design and experimental research of agricultural machinery, modern agricultural equipment, Agricultural informatization and intelligent decision support system, agricultural product drying technology and equipment, modern building materials, building construction technology, ecological design of civil buildings, rural building environment, facility agriculture and rural energy.

Based on the reality of production and economic construction in southwest China, the college actively carried out research work on related projects, presided over and completed a number of scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation and provincial and ministerial key research projects, and won the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize and the third prize of the Ministry of Agriculture. Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award twice, Chongqing Science and Technology Progress Award once, and obtained 3 invention patents and 20 utility model patents. He has also published more than 700 academic papers in academic journals at home and abroad, many of which have been included by internationally renowned retrieval institutions such as EI, and more than 30 textbooks have been officially published by the editor. A number of scientific research achievements have been popularized and applied in the production practice in southwest China, and good social and economic benefits have been achieved.

The college always takes talent training as the top priority, strives to improve the teaching environment and conditions, and creates a good learning environment and academic atmosphere. More than 4,000 graduate students, undergraduates and junior college students have been trained for China, and more than 6,000 technical cadres have been trained for Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou and other provinces and cities. Over the years, the graduates trained by the college have been widely recognized and welcomed by the society, and the employment rate has been among the best in our school, with good employment quality.

The college attaches great importance to students' teaching practice, and the software and hardware construction of modern laboratories is constantly scaled up and upgraded. The college has a total laboratory area of 8380 square meters, with complete and advanced teaching and experimental equipment.
