Shanghai University of Political Science and Law is a law-oriented and multidisciplinary university in Shanghai. The school was formerly Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law Management, founded in 1984, followed by Shanghai Law School, Shanghai Law School and Shanghai University Law School. In September 2004, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law was established on the basis of the former Shanghai University School of Law and Shanghai School of Political Science and Law Management, and became an independent Shanghai municipal ordinary institution of higher learning.
