One of the national key foreign language schools, recognized by the Ministry of Education, can recommend 20% students to foreign language majors of national key universities, and undertake the heavy responsibility of transporting and cultivating national foreign language talents with high quality.
The school was founded in the autumn of 1996, with the donation of Li Ka-shing, a famous Hong Kong industrialist. Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park Development Company provides land, and Pudong New Area Government is responsible for its management. It is a modern boarding public middle school with all foreign language characteristics, with seven grades of junior high school and senior high school, offering many foreign language courses such as English, German and French, as well as basic education courses in middle schools. Zhu Jianguo, former vice president of Shanghai International Studies University and now president of Shanghai Institute of Management Education, is the president and secretary of the Party branch.
