It was established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. Hunan Agricultural University is a private school founded on June 8th, 1903. 1951March, Hunan Agriculture and Forestry College and Hunan University Agricultural College merged to form Hunan Agricultural College; In June of the same year+10, President Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school in his own handwriting. 1994 changed its name to Hunan Agricultural University in March.
