China Geo University is a 2 1 1 university and a 985 university. It is one of the key universities in the "985 Innovation Platform of Engineering Superiority Discipline". The innovation platform of 985 engineering advantage discipline is different from 985 engineering. The 985 project is the support of the whole country for universities. The 985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform is the key support of the state for some disciplines or disciplines in a university.

China University (Dada for short) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and established by the Ministry of Land and Resources, with earth system science as the main body and coordinated development of applied science, frontier science and emerging interdisciplinary subjects. Founded in 1952, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Geology, it was formed by the merger of the Department of Geology of Peking University and the Department of Geological Engineering of Tsinghua University and Tianjin University. 1987, the State Education Commission approved the renaming of Wuhan Institute of Geology as China University of Geology, and established schools in Wuhan and Beijing.
