By 2023, the number of Xiamen University academicians will be added to the list of co-opted academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, and the total number of academicians will reach 17. The three newly elected academicians are Zheng Nanfeng from the Department of Chemistry of China Academy of Sciences, Zhang Rong from the Department of Information Science of China Academy of Sciences and Xia Ningshao from the Department of Medicine and Health of China Academy of Engineering.

In addition, Xiamen University has other outstanding academicians: Tang Chongti, Huang, Wan Huilin, Zhao, Zheng, Tian Zhongqun, Jiao Nianzhi, Han Jiahuai, Dai, Lin and Xie Suyuan. In particular, Professor Lin and Professor Xie Suyuan were elected as academicians of China Academy of Sciences at the age of 57 and 53 respectively. These outstanding scholars have made great contributions to the academic research and personnel training of Xiamen University.

Xiamen University, located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). Xiamen University, founded on April 6th, 192 1, is a private university. In July, 1937, the private Xiamen University was changed to national. 1September, 937, the school moved to Changting, a mountain city in western Fujian. 1946, the school headquarters moved back to Xiamen.
